Is your server platform pushed to the limit with multiple silos of unstructured data? How does it handle the pressure of accessing this data for compliance, regulatory or business processes?

Unstructured data – in all its forms – is creating problems for IT managers. As it proliferates within the organisation, the demand for new solutions has been rife, and providers like Hitachi have been quick to respond.

The Hitachi Content Platform (HCP), formerly known as the Hitachi Content Archive Platform (HCAP) is a single storage platform that supports multiple tiers of storage for a wide range of unstructured content.

It is designed to compliment platforms like Sharepoint, delivering all the little extras that users demand – such as increased performance, ease of manageability and increased compliance.

“It all started with a company in the US, which was running 600 servers with Sharepoint. Frustrated with its performance, the company was ready to ditch Sharepoint entirely,” said Robert Cipriani, National Alliances Manager, Frontline.

“So Hitachi stepped in and developed HCP, which addressed their main question, ‘How do I back this thing up?’ It also compliments Sharepoint in a raft of other ways.”

In addition to its traditional and new archiving/compliance capabilities, HCP is a highly scalable, multitenant, general purpose object store that supports a wide range of applications and use cases in a single cluster.

It delivers:

  • Cloud-enabled storage, storage-as-a-service
  • Reduced backup data volumes
  • Content depots
  • Tiered storage for unstructured data.

“It’s also got features like data shredding, which gets the US Department of Defence tick of approval,” said Cipriani.

In a nutshell, Hitachi Content Platform helps organisations get the most out of their storage investments and prepares the storage environment to stay agile as demands on IT grow in scope, complexity and cost.
